Colchester's Caring Past

A unique display of images and memorabilia highlighting the medical and social history of Colchester is being developed for permanent view in the Primary Care Centre on Turner Road. Entitled Colchester's Caring Past, it will feature many fascinating and historic photographs and drawings recalling the great and good professionals who have cared for our community over the past 150 years.

Colchester Parks win Green Flag Awards

Three parks in the borough won coveted Green Flag Awards this year.

Two years ago a large group of Civic Society members headed off to Framlingham to visit a second batch of hidden churches that only Roy seems to know about. This time after coffee at the Swan at Lavenham, we set off in unexpectedly good weather to see Brent Eleigh, Hitcham and Kettlebaston, returning later for lunch.

Colchester Building wins Civic Trust Award

One of Colchester's more controversial buildings, the Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall at the University of Essex, has won a coveted Civic Trust Award .

Again, many thanks to Jo for organising such a splendid visit to London. Good journey, sunshine all day long and lots to do. A number of us enjoyed lunch in the Methodist central hall, Westminster (pictured) before walking to the Churchill museum and cabinet war rooms situated in such a lovely part of London. So much to see, so much going on and all visits thoroughly recommended.
